Noua masina se bazeaza tehnic pe modelul Seria 3 lansata anul trecut, M3 fiind primul M3 care nu mai este echipat cu o motorizare pe benzina aspirata.
Acum motorul lui M3 este un clasic 6 in linie biturbo care dezvolta o putere maxima de peste 430 CP.
Cutia de viteze standard este una manuala Getrag cu 6 trepte, optional M3 putand sa fie echipata si cu o transmisie semiautomata din seria M Double-clutch Transmission.
